Chengdu is now the capital of Sichuan Province. Chongqing used to the capital and was the capital of China during most of World War II. It became a municipality in 1997, and is therefore a completely separate entity now. The rivalry between the two cities, knows no bounds.
If you really want to disturb the locals, start a discussion about the origins of the famous dish from this area – Sichuan hot pot. Both cities lay their claims.
Chongqing probablyhas the upper hand. The beef intestine hot pot is a popular food sold by street vendors – a favorite of hard-working boat tracker added. It is best to avoid mixing of fish or seafood with red meat. They should also only put green vegetables in the pot after the meat is done and each time the stock has enjoyed. Although the green vegetable is delicious removed, boiled in a broth, they solve a bitter-tasting chemicals and ruin the broth for other foods.
